Dave Ellard, Former CIO of EMC and Boston Scientific, Joins GlassHouse Technologies

Industry Luminary Brings Extensive Experience in Driving Business Focus to Manage Infrastructure

Framingham, MA – GlassHouse Technologies, the global leader in vendor-independent storage services, announced it has hired David Ellard as senior vice president. Ellard was previously the senior vice president and chief information officer (CIO) at EMC for four years and brings a deep history of managing complex IT environments and dealing with the issues of managing cost, risk and client satisfaction. Enterprise CIOs are increasingly struggling with the need to manage data as a strategic business objective rather than an infrastructure investment. Ellard's background will help GlassHouse as it continues to focus on bridging the gap between IT organizations, storage vendor products and business-focused policies and processes to drive business benefits from client storage investments.

At EMC, Ellard was responsible for driving common processes and systems to provide global business scalability and IT cost control. Ellard is also a noted speaker in the technology industry on topics ranging from Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) to portfolio management and IT governance. Prior to EMC, Ellard spent 14 years at Boston Scientific Corporation, where as CIO, he led a successful initiative to globalize and centralize information management.

"Dave has spent his career walking in our clients' shoes and his decision to join GlassHouse and apply the perspective he gained as CIO at one of the leading storage vendors will be extremely valuable to our clients," said Mark Shirman, president and CEO, GlassHouse Technologies, "Dave's many years of CIO experience in Fortune 500 firms has given him a direct view of the effects of growth in digital information on IT infrastructures. As the storage industry moves from a hardware-centric approach to a multi-vendor integrated solution focus, Dave will help GlassHouse meet our clients' increasing demands for independent consulting and services to ensure businesses see tangible benefits from their IT investments."

"I am thrilled to join GlassHouse, which has taken the lead in applying proven process and business benefit approaches that are common in software application implementations, but are new to information and storage management," said Ellard.

"The market for the types of services GlassHouse offers is strong," Ellard continued.  "Every business and data center is wrestling with the problems of increasing amounts of data, greater risk and escalating costs to manage that data.  Every storage vendor is investing in products to help, and those products are an important piece of the solution.  The business requirements, the business process change and the proper implementation of these new tools are the critical elements in making these infrastructure investments effective, and this is what GlassHouse provides for its clients."
